Last week marked the best restaurant news ever for hot dog fans. The much anticipated second location of the beloved City Dogs opened on Friday, Oct. 9. That’s right; City Dogs in The Fan is now serving their delicious, gourmet hot dogs in the former Nara Sushi daily in the lower Fan’s Uptown.
But that’s not the only news on the restaurant front. I hear, thanks to a fabulous restaurant tipster, that a new owner has signed at lease at Magnolias Wine Bar & Bistro. I’ll see what I can find out.
Plus, I kept forgetting (even since the Armenian Food Festival) that a new restaurant is coming in the place of Freckles. Near West End News beat me to the punch on the reporting, but it looks like the The Grill at Patterson & Libbie is coming soon. You can read about it here.
And the TD got the scoop that Outer Banks Seafood Co is opening in Stony Point Fashion Park in December. Now you can eat like you’re on vacation all year long.
Finally, we’ve got an update on the second location of Zuppa … sort of.
According to the press release, "River Water, Inc., the new restaurant’s ownership group, has enlisted Adam Schumm, whose Zuppa restaurant in Shockoe Bottom won the affections of both diners and dining critics alike, to oversee the food and beverage operation. Currant will offer an American twist on some classical European traditions, marrying some of Schumm’s own innovations with traditional fare, all within a casual yet upscale atmosphere."
Currant is shooting for a November or December opening.
That’s the restaurant Dish for now, but be sure to check back tomorrow when I delve into upcoming dining events. And be sure to check out our Restaurant Week Guide.
