The Nice-n-Slow:
Tuesday, June 30th, Gallery5 Presents: Runaway Circus and the Loose Cabooses: The Big Community Circus. Fight the Giant Bull (Fight the Big Bull x 1,000), Ilad and other special guests will perform. The circus features "extraordinay feats of acrobatics, juggling, diablo, clowning and musical talent, they are sure to leave any audience member with their jaw dropped and their stomach aching from laughter." Visit the Runaway Circus' website and/or get more deets on the performance at G5 here.
Friday, July 3, the National brings Jenny Lewis to town. Some of you may know her as the female singer from Rilo Kiley - I saw them perform at Toad's Place - R.I.P.! Come to think of it, I also saw the opening act, the Heartless Bastards, perform at the Gravity Lounge, which is also now closed. The Heartless Bastards don a singing femme fatale named Erika Wennerstrom (I gushed about her before, here). Some of you may also remember Ms. Lewis as the fiery-spirited friend of Fred Savage (no, not Winnie) in the '80s video game inspired movie, The Wizard. For details on this rockin' show, click here.
On Friday, (as a part of the First Friday Art Walk) Gallery5 hosts a free Pre-Independence Day Party featuring live performances by Gills and Wings, Nemuriyume and Brian Martin. For full details, click here.

'Go-go' on down to Kanawha Plaza on Friday to see Chuck Brown and his soulful act at Fridays at Sunset. Click here for more event details.
Also on Friday, Indie Art Rocks MS is happening. With Lost Satellites, Palominos and art by Jacob King at Capital Ale House Downtown Music Hall. All proceeds go to the National MS Society. If you're looking for more info, try this link.
Lastly, on Sunday, the 5th, Coald Toast, Religious Girls, Our Brother The Native, Sky Plant play the Camel on Broad. (804) 353-4901. Get more information here.
