1. Shockoe Chef Showdown

Fan of foodie reality shows like "Top Chef" or "Hell's Kitchen"? Make sure to check out Shockoe Chef Showdown at the 17th St. Farmer's Market this weekend where Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom chefs go head to head to compete for title of Top Chef.

2. 1st Annual Jazz and Food Festival
Saturday at Saint Elizabeth Church
Jazz up your weekend with the 1st Annual Jazz/Food Festival at St. Elizabeth's in Highland Park. Dig into American, Soul and West Indian Food at the fest. There will be kids' activities as well as music from local jazz bands. Can good donations will be accepted for the Food Bank.
3. Midsummer Night's Scream!
Friday and Saturday at the Byrd Theatre
Haunts of Richmond presents a tribute to the Master of the Macabre with a play highlighting some of Edgar Allan Poe's darkest and best-known tales. Two shows only. 5. Grand Street Party - A Summer Reading Celebration Finale

Beat the heat by taking the kids to the Richmond Library for a whole day of free creative activities, story telling, food and live music. Top Summer Reading participants will be recognized and computer winners will be announced. Here's the schedule:
11 a.m.: Creating Jack Tales: a new play with original music by Rags to Riches theatre group for young audiences
Noon--Recognition & Winners: Top readers receive medals and the winning computer coupons are drawn
