Inspiration on the Web
At our neighborhood picnic last month, some friends were discussing their rugged workouts with Oxygen and Iron personal training studio in Midlothian.
The gist of the conversation was how these two young and athletic women were happily discovering previously unused muscle groups through a variety of unusual exercises. So I followed up and gave the O&I website a gander. Glad I did because they do a great job of providing video tips, upbeat event reports and nutrition guidance.
Another website with an effective approach to inspiring folks to get physically active is hosted by SEAL Team Physical Training, Inc. They do a great job showing the power of putting yourself in the middle of a group in all manner of terrain, climate conditions and exercises.
I've been out at Brown's Island and watched squads of SEAL Teamers scale sheer rock walls that had them standing on each other's shoulders and then climbing and pulling each other up the wall. These walls were about two and stories high. Quite impressive.
With all the grind 'em up and spit 'em out stuff on the web, it's nice to see folks who are grinding it out for fun, friendship and fitness.
